A man named Travis Gienger managed to grow the largest pumpkin in North America! His 2,350 pound pumpkin won first place in the 2020 Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh Off in Half Moon Bay, California. His prize was the grand total of $16,450 which come out to $7 per pound. The pumpkin ended up being only 274 pounds less than the worlds largest pumpkin record that was set in 2016. The pumpkin was named after the popular Netflix show, “Tiger King” and was growing at a rate of 53 pounds per day at its peak. In order to protect Tiger King from cracking on the drive to California, Gienger put a pallet on a trailer with tarps and soils to keep it from bouncing around. Gienger was very proud of his accomplishment and what he had achieved with his pumpkin.
