Dungeons and Dragons is a game that has been around since 1974. However, despite the amount of time it has existed, there are many who hold in a bad light or simply just wish to know more about it. This article is going to shed more light on what exactly D&D is all about.

First, before diving into the specifics of D&D, one most understand the basic concept. For those who don’t know, D&D is a tabletop role playing game with a fantasy setting. One person will run the game while other people will make customize their own character to use. Additionally, the person running the game is referred to as the dungeon master (DM) or game master, and the people playing are called player characters.

Next, as mentioned before, the DM runs the game. They are responsible for creating the story and adventures the player characters go through which allows for limited possibilities. One could send their players to fight dragons, or explore the deepest of dungeons. The limits of a dungeon master really depend on their imagination.

Just as important as the DM are the player characters. They are the ones playing through the story or campaign that the DM creates. Players will customize their character from a variety of classes and races. There are almost limitless possibilities with making a character. One could be a sneaky and a trickster, or they might be heroic warrior. It all really depends on the the player themselves.

Once both the DM and the players are ready the campaign will begin. This part entirely depends on the what the DM has planned and who is playing, but that is best part because no two campaigns will be the same and everyone playing will have different experiences.

While this game sounds like a nerd’s fantasy only, you don’t have to be a nerd to enjoy D&D, and if you don’t enjoy it in the end ,that is completely alright. Still, the only matter is if one is willing to give D&D a chance and invest a little time into it.
