On November 15, DHS Student Council hosted the annual fall blood drive for any high school volunteers. To participate, donors have to be 16 years of age or older and at least 115 pounds. According to the Student Council Adviser, Mrs. Gray, 41 students registered. “The drive ran very well, everything went really smooth,” Gray said.
The Community Blood Center collected 27 pints of blood and 6 plasmas, which is the clear, straw-colored liquid portion of blood that remains after red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and other cellular components are removed. Unfortunately, the number of volunteer donors was lower than last year, due to sickness and weather.
We’d like to give a big thanks to all the participants, the workers from the Community Blood Center, and the DHS Student Council for all their hard work.
